General Information

What causes hair loss?

There are many causes of hair loss, but the most common type is male pattern baldness also known as androgenic alopecia. Male pattern baldness is hereditary, often passed down from our parents. Androgenetic alopecia affects approximately 67% of men by the age of 35 and about 85% by the age of 50 (Source: American Hair Loss Association 2021).

Keeping your hair not only depends on internal factors but also on how we externally care for it. Utilizing the right hair care products like shampoo and conditioner, especially those infused with quality ingredients which stimulate the scalp, promote hair growth and reduce hair fall, plays a pivotal role in maintaining the vitality and resilience of our hair. If you’d like to fight your hair loss, we recommend exploring our product range.

What types of hair loss exist?

Hair loss, medically termed as alopecia, can manifest in various ways and affect hair anywhere on the body. The root causes and severity of each type differ and require a medical diagnosis. Broadly, alopecia can be classified into non-scarring and scarring categories.

The most prevalent non-scarring hair loss is androgenic alopecia, commonly referred to as male and female pattern hair loss. This condition impacts around 67% of men and 15% of women, largely due to genetic and hormonal influences, notably DHT.

Another non-scarring type is telogen effluvium, characterized by alterations in the hair growth cycle, leading to a shorter growth phase and an extended shedding phase. This can be triggered by factors like illness, nutritional deficiencies, or certain medications. Alopecia areata affects various hair types, ranging from scalp hair to body hair. It presents in various degrees: localized patches (alopecia areata), complete scalp baldness (alopecia totalis), or full-body hair loss (alopecia universalis).

Current studies suggest its origin lies in autoimmunity. Traumatic alopecia, akin to traction alopecia, stems from continuous strain on the hair, commonly due to hair pulling or tight hairstyles. It's seen more frequently in children. While the above-mentioned types are non-scarring, there's also scarring hair loss, termed as cicatricial alopecia. This rarer form results in permanent hair follicle damage with subsequent scar tissue formation.

How do male and female hair loss patterns differ?

Androgenic alopecia, while common in both genders, affects around 67% of men compared to 15% of women. This form of hair loss is influenced by a blend of genetics and hormonal factors. In men, the typical pattern begins with a receding hairline at the temples and vertex, eventually forming an M-shaped hairline. Complete baldness is rare, and hair usually remains on the sides and back of the head. In contrast, women with this condition experience a widespread thinning of hair without a receding hairline.

Which products are recommended for early hair loss?

Our clinical research provides evidence that a significant portion of participants experiences less hair loss after 90 days. All participants used the Hair Growth Stimulating Full Range Set which is a combination of the Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo, Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner, Hair Growth Stimulation Serum, and Hair Growth Stimulating Roller.

Is daily hair loss an indication of baldness?

Not necessarily. It's natural for individuals to shed hair daily, with an average loss of about 100 strands. Considering the average person has around 100,000 hair strands, this daily loss is part of a natural cycle where hair falls out and regrows. However, if you observe atypical hair loss patterns, a diminishing hairline, or sparse hair, it might be a sign of male pattern baldness.

At what age do men typically begin experiencing hair loss?

Hair loss doesn't have a specific onset age; however, there are indicators to watch for that signal its commencement. Some hair loss insights include: The bodily chemical shift triggering hair loss begins during puberty. By 21, a quarter of men with hair loss will have started to see changes. By 35, around two-thirds of all men will face some degree of hair loss.

Is hair loss genetic?

Indeed, male pattern baldness has genetic roots, inheriting genes either from your mother or father. Yet, it's worth noting that other hair loss forms might arise from different causes. Hair loss, a prevalent concern, can be due to various factors:

Genetics: Androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness is primarily hereditary. Recent studies identified 287 genetic regions influencing this type. Both sides of the family can contribute genes.

Hormones: Abnormal androgen levels, male reproductive system hormones, can lead to hair loss.

Medical Conditions: Anemia, diabetes, eating disorders, lupus, and thyroid issues, among others, can cause hair shedding. Yet, treating the underlying condition usually restores hair.

Diet: Ferritin, an essential protein related to iron storage and vital for hair production, might be lacking in those not consuming iron-rich foods. Dramatic weight shifts can also induce hair loss.

Medications: Drugs like blood thinners, certain blood pressure medications, and birth control can cause telogen effluvium, leading to premature hair shedding. Chemotherapy drugs can cause anagen effluvium, halting new hair production.

Autoimmune Diseases: Conditions like alopecia areata result in round patches of hair loss.

Infections/Skin Conditions: Scalp ringworm or tinea capitis can cause hair loss. Severe folliculitis might leave permanent bald patches. Piedra weakens hair, leading to breakage. Injuries/Burns: They can cause temporary hair loss. Scarring from such injuries often results in permanent baldness in that area.

Hair Care: Excessive styling or tight hairstyles can cause traction alopecia, leading to hair breakage.

Stress: Significant emotional or physical shocks can lead to temporary hair thinning. Although the list is extensive, many of these causes lead to temporary hair loss. Addressing the root cause can restore hair health. Those with permanent hair loss, like androgenic alopecia, still have hope with the right treatments.

Can a dry scalp lead to hair thinning?

Brittle hair resulting from dryness can easily break and split, causing frayed or dead ends, which can make hair appear thinner. Dandruff can arise for various reasons, including dry scalp. While dandruff itself isn't a direct cause of hair loss, the itchiness it induces can prompt frequent scratching, potentially harming hair follicles.

What phases make up the hair growth cycle?

The hair growth cycle is primarily divided into four main stages. While there are various transition phases within each stage, the primary ones include the anagen (growth), catagen (regression), telogen (resting), and exogen (shedding) phases. For most healthy individuals, about 90 percent of their hair is typically in the anagen or growth stage.

Product Information

Are ZENLUCA’s Hair Growth Stimulating products effective for all hair loss types?

ZENLUCA’s products are designed to aid early-stage non-scarring hair loss. However, they aren't effective for those with irreversible scarring hair loss or cicatricial alopecia. Initial studies indicate that these products boost hair follicle activity and prepare the scalp and hair for enhanced growth.

Can there be side effects from using the products?

While our products are 100% derived from natural sources, they aren't free from potential allergens. Ingredients like vanillyl butyl ether and eucalyptus oil can cause sensitivities, so it's essential to review the ingredient list before use to ensure no allergic reactions. If you encounter any unexpected side effects, stop the product usage and seek medical advice. We encourage any adverse reactions to be reported to our customer support. Before adopting a new hair growth routine, it's always recommended to consult a healthcare expert and cross-check our ingredients to avoid allergic reactions.

Can these products be combined with other hair growth items?

Certainly, our shampoo, conditioner, and serum can be used in conjunction with other hair care items. However, ZENLUCA doesn't have detailed knowledge about the functionality, interactions, ingredients, or effects of other products. Though our products are optimized to function best together, we can't definitively state how they might interact with other brands' products in terms of enhancing or diminishing effects. For clarity and safety, we recommend consulting a qualified healthcare professional.

Will the improvements vanish if I stop using the products?

Like all hair growth solutions available, there isn't a permanent cure for alopecia. If you discontinue our products, your hair's condition will likely revert to its original state before treatment, and the achieved progress might diminish. To keep enjoying the benefits and preserve hair growth, it's essential to use the products consistently and as directed.

How long does it take for ZENLUCA's Hair Growth Stimulating products to start working?

Hair growth is a gradual process; immediate results shouldn't be anticipated. Generally, it takes about 3 months or more to observe noticeable changes. The key to success is consistent use of our products.

Does the derma roller complement the application of the ZENLUCA® Hair Growth Stimulating Serum?

Using a derma roller alongside the serum is a viable approach. Derma rolling can potentially improve skin absorption, enabling the serum or its active components to permeate more deeply than with a topical application alone.

Can you use hairstyling products after applying the ZENLUCA® Hair Growth Stimulating Serum?

Once the serum dries, which usually takes around 20-40 seconds, you can proceed with applying hairstyling oil, gel, or wax to enhance your hair's style and texture.

How does the Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo work?

While many commercial hair products have harmful components like sulfates, silicones, and parabens that can compromise hair health, the Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo stands out. As the initial step in the 3-stage ZENLUCA haircare routine, it complements the Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner and Serum. It not only cleanses the scalp and hair gently but also infuses essential nutrients to mend damaged strands. This shampoo is crafted to fortify the hair, manage excess sebum, and introduce potent nutrients that encourage hair growth.

How does the Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner work?

The ZENLUCA® Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner rejuvenates and safeguards hair, omitting harmful elements like sulfates, silicones, and parabens. As the middle phase in the 3-step ZENLUCA haircare routine, it revitalizes damaged strands and establishes a protective coat around each hair shaft. Various external elements, like heat or oxidants from hair colorants, can render hair fragile. This conditioner's potent components shield hair from potential harm by creating a defensive layer, preserving existing hair quality.

How does the Hair Growth Stimulating Serum work?

Our skin serves as a protective barrier, often preventing chemicals and external agents from entering. This means many molecules struggle to fully permeate the skin, limiting their effectiveness. However, the ZENLUCA® Hair Growth Stimulating Serum is formulated to allow its active ingredients to deeply reach the scalp, bolstering hair follicle health. The serum also includes ingredients which enhances blood circulation in the scalp, ensuring ample oxygen and nutrient supply to hair follicle roots, fostering growth. These ingredients, synchronized with the hair's natural growth rhythm, aim to amplify the anagen phase, producing discernible results.

Can the serum remove the natural colour of my hair?

No.

Should the Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo and Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner be used every day?

For optimal hair strength, repair, and growth benefits from ZENLUCA, it's advisable to apply the Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo and Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner 3 times per week

However, it's crucial to apply the Hair Growth Stimulating Serum daily for the best results.

Is it better to apply the serum on wet or dry hair?

For optimal serum application, it's suggested to use it on towel-dried, blow-dried, or completely dry hair. Applying the serum to very wet or soaked hair can dilute the solution, causing it to spread less effectively on the targeted area.

Can I use a hairdryer after serum application?

It's best to dry your hair before using the serum. Once applied, it's advised to let the serum sit in your hair for a minimum of 6 hours. However, you can proceed with your usual hairstyling afterward.

When is the best time to use the serum? Do I need to shower first?

Use the serum daily. For example, apply it before bedtime to ensure a minimum of 6 hours of effectiveness. There's no need to shampoo or shower prior to its application.
